Totus Tuus Week 5

Hi Everyone!

Our team just got done with our first week back from vacation.  I had an awesome time coming home and spending time at Maple Lake with family and friends.  It was hard to leave early from our Cass Lake camping tradition, but it was fun to see my team again and catch up with the rest of the Totus Tuus teams!  We had a week at Blessed Sacrament parish in Lincoln which was incredible! The kids were so fun and energetic and we had great host families that were so generous and hospitable.  Our team just finished our week in Wood River, NE which was such a great experience.

This was Wood River's first time ever having Totus Tuus at their parish and we came in expecting very small numbers.  Our first day 86 kids showed up for the day! It was amazing but a little scary.  We weren't as prepared as we thought but my team did such an incredible job of making everything run smoothly.  The next day we had over 90 kids and by Wednesday we had 101 kids end up coming for the rest of the week.  Father Janovec had been praying very hard for kids to come and experience Totus Tuus and his prayers were definitely answered.

I couldn't have asked for better kids at this parish.  They were so eager to learn everything we taught them and were so energetic and fun all week.  It was a change going from parishes who were used to Totus Tuus and already very knowledgeable in their Catholic faith.  I really felt like we had a mission and a job this week to spread the faith and evangelize to these kids.  As a team we were up to the challenge and went for it full force.  Like I said before, these kids were so receptive and wanting to learn as much as possible that it made it really easy.  God truly blessed our week and the parish and I know he will continue to be working and sending His graces to them.  Everyone we met their was truly amazing!

It is our last week of Totus Tuus and we will be going to Beatrice, NE.  This is also a new parish so we're excited to see what kind of a turn out we will have.  Keep my team in your prayers and I will keep you posted!

Highlights of the Week:

-Harry Potter Midnight Premiere!  It was fun to make the trip to Grand Island to see the movie, but it was a hard Friday with only 4 hours of sleep!

-Watching Jose (5th grader) learn to altar serve for the first time.  He was so excited and did such a great job!

-Hearing the kids learn the Mass responses and saying them loud and proud for Father!

-Taking the 1st and 2nd graders on a Church tour and having them ask Father to bring our Jesus from the Tabernacle.  They were so reverent and happy that Father agreed to show them.
